About

Mark Adam, working under the studio name MarkMaker (MM) is an artist whose practice sits between graphic design, typography and relief sculpture. Drawing on his background as a graphic designer, he transforms familiar letterforms and geometric shapes into layered, tactile artworks that blur the boundary between communication and abstraction. Combining digital design processes with traditional making techniques, he transforms letterforms into sculptural compositions where colour, shadow and material textures become as important as language.

His work draws influence from modernist design, architecture, industrial materials and the visual culture of the North East, resulting in pieces that balance graphic precision with tactile craftsmanship. Through laser-cut wood, spray-painted surfaces and mixed media, each artwork invites the viewer to experience familiar forms in unexpected ways.
